EP,

<Excuse me??? What TPC benchmarks have even been hinted at for the Athlon? I believe you are seriously mistaken here. 2MB of on-die L2 will be a major performance boost for the Cascades vrs Athlon.>

The only benchmark that is official that I can point you to is the AMD's SPEC95 suite where K7 with 1/2 speed cache beats the crap out of XEON with full speed cache. On the real server version K7 can go up to 8M for sure and possibly upto 16M.

The only leaked benchmark on the server-side shows K7 clocking in at about 31 Specint if my memory serves me right. This ain't PIII land and Wilamette ain't there yet. IMHO, Intel may have better luck with stability FUD than performance data.

My bet is on single/dual-K7 solutions beating the crap out of Intel's server offerings. But, without data it is your opinion versus mine.

We will see who is mistaken when the server benchmarks start showing up. Bookmark this post if you like.
