Analog Devices is Clear Market Leader in ADSL
NORWOOD, Mass., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI - news) today announced the company's leadership position in providing silicon solutions used to implement ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) capability in equipment worldwide, based on recent analyst reports from Dataquest. In addition, Allied Business Intelligence also cites ADI's leadership in ADSL in a recent report. ADI's products are used in both customer premise equipment (CPE) Internet modems and central office (CO) equipment, and can be configured for either full-rate or G.Lite ADSL operation. Analog Devices is currently the only IC supplier that can supply complete field-proven, end-to-end interoperable ADSL chip set solutions, along with discrete analog components, including analog front ends (AFE) and line drivers.
Dataquest Inc., a unit of GartnerGroup Inc. (NYSE: IT - news), ranked Analog Devices number one in sales of ADSL chip sets in 1998, according to a report entitled, ''DSL and Cable Modem Chip Markets Race Ahead,'' published on April 26, 1999. The report stated that ADI's AD20msp910 full-rate chip set is designed into more than a third of the unit shipment market in 1998. A more recent report published on July 12, 1999 entitled, ''Worldwide xDSL Market Share and Forecast, 1999,'' indicated three of the top five companies worldwide are customers of Analog Devices' ADSL solutions. The report also concluded that Analog Devices' customers captured 60 percent of the market share in 1998.
ADI's leadership position was confirmed by Allied Business Intelligence in its recently released report, entitled ''The ADSL Broadband Solution, Subscribers, Equipment, and Chip Sets, US Market Analysis.'' Citing ADI's wide number of design wins with leading modem/telecommunications product manufacturers, ABI said it expects ADI to be the market share leader in 1999.
