Maurice. E-currency could be issued by a tax haven country. They could make a huge business out of helping others avoid/evade taxes. It would need to be pegged to the dollar or the Euro to be useful.
Such a move would put uncle sam up there w/ G*. The US is one of the few countries in the world that attempts to tax its citizens on income derived from any location in the world (probably will eventually extend to outer space) no matter where the citizens reside. The US is serious about collecting taxes. That is one main reason for the government's ill fated efforts to squelch strong encription, PGP etc. They claim it is mainly to fight crime a la drug traffic--but I don't buy that.
