OT Good post.

Imagine how different things would be if Apple's proprietary hardware/software platform was the de-facto standard. Only a few of us would have computers and the internet would still be something the research institutes and the feds used to share information.

Of course, we know that Apple's platform could not be the standard. It never had a chance. It was proprietary and expensive, compared to what IBM (PC), Intel and MSFT provided.

I have been in the computer biz since the IBM 360 days. The WINTEL phenom propelled us into this incredible economic expansion and made USA the global economic power it is today and will be for some time to come.

Don't blame just the gov't for the MSFT trial. Remember that it was NOVL, AOL, NSCP and a host of others who are hung up on proprietary approaches to a very competitive market that are carrying the "monopolist" complaint.

Please don't bother to attempt to engage me in a debate about this. It has too many ideological and political facets to keep my interest.
