Some call it Human Sacrifice...

While others call it "Cover Your @ss"...

This security officer has a vested interest in clearing Lee.

Question... why was a former CIA operations officer stuck working as a SSO (site security officer) at Los Alamos??

CIA Operations is far more "glamourous" as it deals with the Covert/Overt side of intelligence operations.

Going from this to a mundane SSO position at DOE is considered quite a "demotion" (no offense intended to all of those hard-working SSO's out there).

This may not be the first time that Yroon has shown negligence in his work performance.

The evidence against Lee goes far beyond moving data from an secured to an unsecured computer system. He apparently had a number of personal contacts and meetings with PRC individuals that he failed to report.

When in a classified position, the regulations state that all contacts outside of normal course of duties with foreign officials, agents, or actual or potential attempts by FIS (foreign intelligence service) personnel to recruit you or ask you for information are supposed to be reported to your SSO or other pertinent counter-intelligence representatives.

Lee apparently traveled in China and has been unable to account for his location or actions for several periods during these trips. That alone caused him to place himself under suspicion as well as making himself vulnerable to recruitment or extortion.

As I said before.. investigating espionage cases are very difficult since there are any number of parties who have a vested interest in not having their performance or lack of performance highlighted.

Regards,

Ron
