I don't know if eToys is a winner or not. Certainly, whatever your view of e-commerce overall, within that group there are those which are on the ball and those which are not. This article was interesting because it was a criticism of Amazon's innovation, something which is widely touted by its promoters.

You have to understand, I'm not against e-commerce companies per se, I just don't think that they're going to replace brick-and-morter. I think of them as fancy 'catalog' companies. In that sense, a catalog-based toy company can do very well. Just like JCPennys does very well with their catalog. So yeah, a bookstore or a toystore can do fine. Whether or not they're worth 5 billion dollars or 25 is something else entirely.
