The more I think about it, this idea of phonology bothers me. Soon you will get street urchins dictating the proper manner of speech. You Germans have it rough, though. I think we can agree your language is not beautiful. There is the story about the Englishman, the Spaniard, the Frenchman, and the German who espied a brightly colored fluttering thing and the Englishman said "it is a butterfly". The Spaniard said "es una mariposa". The Frenchman said "papillon", and the German said "nein nein, schmetterlink!" (Sorry if I butchered the spelling)

Here again the haughty American will advise the German: introduce some Latin into your language. <g>
