ORCL owns about 1/2 of LBRT. LU, SUNW, and AOL own a piece. Gee, wonder what kind of rating they will get next Monday.

Liberate Technologies is loosening the shackles of
Internet access. The company (formerly Network
Computer) makes Web access software for set-top
boxes, smart phones, and other next-generation
appliances. Liberate was born from Oracle CEO Larry
Ellison's idea for a breed of stripped-down computers
to run applications off the Internet, setting users free
from Microsoft. (The technology was hobbled by hype
and plunging PC prices.) Liberate continues to ally with
information appliance specialists. More than half of its
customers are outside the US. Oracle owns 48% of
Liberate; other investors include Lucent Technologies,
Sun Microsystems, and AOL.
