When my mother died, there was a big behind the scenes fracas in the middle of the whole funeral planning, open casket versus closed casket (the parlor was pulling for "open" as it does pad the bill quite a nice bit what with all the decorations and whatnot). From what I heard, it got to be quite an open imbroglio, sort of along the lines of "Tastes Great!! Less Filling!!" The "opens" won out, and I guess the "closed" just sort of sullenly decided not to look.
