When I speculated that Japan could eventually surpass the United States in Internet usage, I meant on a per capita basis. Of course this is a pretty wild speculation at this point, but I think the Japanese people have been know to embrace American ideas with a lot of enthusiasm at times.

These wireless solutions for Internet access seem to have a lot of appeal in many underdeveloped Countries. The way it is implemented depends on the local situation. One of the beauties of the Internet in all it's aspects is the freewheeling use of a wide variety of technologies. When this is not restricted by politicians and particular financial interests we will see progress and lower costs for better service. I think that Softbank has been looking at all of Asia. Actually Softbank has been looking at the entire World...
