Does anyone know the true transfer rate of a T1 line?

I would like to verify the accuracy of the nearly one hour file transfer time that SR states also. I talked with a relative of mine and he said he sends a 700mb file via T1 every night and it takes 7 hours. That sounds way too slow to me. On the other hand, your 40 second time seems too fast. Please try to verify the size of the file and method by which it was sent. Your message indicating a non compressed 238mb file from CA to TX in less than a minute seems too fast (5.95mb per second). If it is accurate it is still relatively slow compared to the 50mb per second (approx) that SR claims.

Also, your statement is presented in a way that indicates that you feel SR is trying to pull the wool over our (and SDSU's, the Telcom industry's, etc) eyes. You theorise that they may be using file compression (but have nothing to back it up) and you don't even know for sure how you sent the 238mb file (probable T1).

I don't mind the skeptical views that you have regarding SR and their technology, but when you offer your views based on your suspicions (and not facts) then all you are sharing with the thread is your skeptical view. I would think with all the technical people on this thread that someone would have an idea as to whether a 411mb file would take almost an hour on T1 or ADSL. There is a big difference between almost an hour and the 69 seconds that your "probable" T1 can achieve.
