RE: Since the projected P/E is very high in one case and undefined in the other, it appears that Wall Street is trading, at least partially, on FY2001 estimates for those two stocks.

Agreed. Since the price of a stock is really just discounted future earnings, this has to be true. It is interesting to put in earnings numbers for a few leaders (defined as stocks I like - chuckle)

tracker.clicktrade.com
gives a nice summary of research links..
Put in LRCX and then click on "First Call Earnings Estimates" and get
FY2000 =$2.51 and FY2001 = $3.00 so really you should put FY2001 next to LRCX also to make the comparison apples and apples.

This knowledge make SFAM look like twice as good a bargain as LRCX!
of course, I expect LRCX to do more like $3 in FY2000 and $5 in 2001
but a very useful chart none the less. (and much appreciated)
now I think I am inspired!
