I was curious about what you posted enough to view a few pages without browsing in a new process. I couldn't detect any speed difference at all.
The 'new process' stuff only applies when you open a new browser window (Ctrl-N) and without doing this, you wouldn't be using this feature.
Obviously, you have determined that on your system, your performance deteriorates with multiple process browsing enabled. I don't know why this would be the case, but since it is, you'd be better off with it disabled.
I can honestly say that about 20% of your post registered ...
After re-reading my post, I'm amazed that anyone could make much sense of it. I attempted to cover way too much ground, and as a result, didn't do a very good job of explaining any of it. In the future, I'll try to focus on a narrower subject with greater clarity. I think that would serve readers better.
Sometimes SI's response deteriorates without any apparent cause: It just happens. Yesterday, I was about half-way through the posts I wanted to read and SI, after running normally for a half-hour started to deliver pages so slow I couldn't continue. When this happens, about every 2 weeks, I usually terminate the session and try again in about an hour.
