Well, I am glad most of you are reminiscing about grandparents.

This conversation brought back a memory, from about 15 years ago, when my husband and I were first married. We were back in his home town, and called a high school buddy of his. We made a plan to visit at their house, sounded like a nice enough evening. When we arrived and stepped into the living room, there it was plastic covered furniture. Nice quality upholstered furniture, covered in plastic. My husband and I watched them remove the plastic so we could sit down. It was like the grand gesture of friendship. We spent the rest of the evening being afraid to breath. Things got really tough when they serve appetizers. What would they do if we accidently dropped a crumb. I think their attempt at impressing us, just sent us happily back to our rented apartment, furnished with family heirlooms...AKA...hand-me-downs.

I sometimes wonder if their children are allowed to use the furniture!
