The Yahoo! board is extremely active, which probably accounts for the lack of posting activity here on SI. Yahoo! board appears to include some insiders or very well informed people, (plus some "Yahoos" who like to see the sight of their own postings and provide comic relief). Seems the company, ADAP ($27/share area currently), is relying very heavily on this AB Access new product for broadband wireless Internet access, and divesting or curtailing most of the rest of its business. California Microwave only paid $11 million in cash to buy Adaptive Broadband, a UK company, in August 98. Then by April they changed the name of the company to that of the new acquisition. Skepticism by many Yahoo posters about managment claims in light of past claims that did not pan out. If new CEO Fred Lawrence is betting everything on just one technology, isn't there real risk of the whole compamy not making it if the technology fails? Posters said the Spectracast product is experiencing many failures.

"Broadband fixed wireless as the solution to the last mile problem" concept sounds great, but is this the company, or one of the companies, with the solution? Contract with Solectron to manufacture the AB Access product. Order for $100mm over 5 years from I3S. Deliveries to begin October 99.

Anyone able to elaborate on these things? What are the other technologies that AB Access most closely competes with? Does Lucent or Cisco or another major company have a competing product? What is the intellectual capital protection for ADAP? Is AB Access patented? Or is it trade secrets?
