I listened to the DW interview on CNBC and was somewhat disappointed and confused. I have been long CMGI for 2 years but am getting more concerned. If CMGI is primarily a venture capital firm then everybody needs to go to the CMGI web site and look at the mission statement of the @Venture sponsored companies. IMHO, the days of profits from IPO's of online furniture or vitamin or car parts companies are just about over. Ecircles and KOZ seem to do about the same thing and how many are willing to pay $4000 grand for a picture on the NEXTMONET site?

I am sorry to be negative but IMO we need something more than another wanna be IPO to move this stock. I was pinning my hopes on a grand strategy of combining AV, Planet Direct, and especially ICAST, Magnitude and the advertising and fulfillment companies into a whole new Internet dimension.

It makes me wonder if there is a grand vision or its just the case that CMGI is shooting at opportunities as they appear on the horizon. That worked before but I think those days are over.

CMGI is probably the most complicated Internet play around. Given the average IQ of 30 for most the analysts following the Internets no wonder we are threading water. It is a lot easier for the analysts to follow AMZN or EBAY than us - their business model is well understood.

DW needs to come out with a comprehensive, understandable mission statement so we have something to hang our hat on. I sure it can be done without giving away the story line. But if all we are going to do is incubate than I don't think we need AV and ICAST is probably costing way too much. And what are we going to do with the Gateway and Dell money?

We have taken some hits lately with the back stepping on the Lycos merger, the split decision, the insider selling and now this Wallstreet article. I need something more at this point.

I don't care about the stock price as long as I can see the direction we are headed. But I guess I just don't get it.
