Duane Reade Cat Attacks!!

Bill, breaking material news regarding the horrible NY drug chain, Duane Reade.

The lead story on WCBS-TV news tonight (ending with anchor-banter "we'll be hearing MORE about this!" "Yes we will!") was an investigative piece concerning a string of cat attacks in not one, but three, mid-town Manhattan Duane Reade stores. One victim, a horribly scared female real estate executive (visitor from Florida) whose savage wounds took 38 stitches has retained an attorney who has entered a multi-million dollar suit --- provoked it seems, when Duane Reade representatives refused even to apologize.

DR spokesmen confirm that the chain does routinely (and, despite the attacks will continue to) employ aggressive cats to fight vermin in its stores.

Stay tuned: you can be sure the local papers are going to be all over this one as just the kind of story NY needs to contrast the new civic pride that began yesterday as pedestrians stand on corners cheering bicycle cops that, since yesterday have been stationed on every mid-town corner issuing $300 tickets to every car/bus/cab/truck that dares "block the grid."

This is one exciting town!

bye,
