I have been following the thread but have been too busy to jump in but have decided it was time to add my 2 cents worth, NN had been working with Acend on joint marketing and had exchanges sensitive company information, and I would expect signed non-disclosure agreements. Then wham out of the blue we have the Ascend/Cascade deal. You dont cut a deal like that overnight, I think Ascend pulled a fast one, but I also think they made the wrong decision. Why?? With all due respect I dont think NN is well covered in the states. I dont think there is an appreciation for NN's global positioning and the relationship with Siemens and how that can be leveraged for future business.. If you were picking a partner who would you pick???? (Rhetorical question hopefully)
As for the Ascend/Cascade deal, ...... does anyone remember the Wellfleet Synoptics merger??? Ouch, looks like a repeat to me. The smart money is on Newbridge.

Herb, Thanks for filling us in. Did not realize Ascend and NN exchanged sensitive information. So Ascend pulled a fast one on NN. I'm sure Mr. Matthews will keep that in his mind, for a very long time.

M, If you listen to the Cascade Communications conference call, you will hear one of the executives slam Newbridge as a loser....Thought that was a revolting development!
