American Power Conversion Selected by HP to Help Ensure Availability of HP NetServer Systems

WEST KINGSTON, R.I., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on its relationship with Hewlett-Packard Company, American Power Conversion (APC) today announced that its Redundant Switch has been selected by HP to enhance the availability of HP NetServer systems. APC's Redundant Switch provides flexibility to all HP NetServer systems users to reach their desired level of network availability.

"Uninterrupted system availability allows a company to fully leverage its revenue-generation opportunities. Poor power quality can disrupt that business productivity instantaneously," said Eileen O'Brien, marketing manager for HP's Network Server Division. "HP's selection of APC's Redundant Switch reaffirms our long-term commitment to network availability by recommending innovative, flexible solutions."

"We are pleased to once again work with HP toward our common goal of providing end-to-end availability solutions," said Ed Bednarcik, general manager of APC's Business Networks. "APC's Redundant Switch is just one of a number of APC's solutions designed to keep networks up and running during power disruptions of any type."

With its simple switching architecture, the APC Redundant Switch can be used in multiple configurations including power quality monitoring from both a primary and redundant APC Smart-UPS(R) uninterruptible power supply (UPS), each of which can be plugged into separate AC circuits. APC's Redundant Switch automatically switches the load to the redundant UPS when it detects a potential disruption to the load, such as during a severe power event.

In addition to APC's Redundant Switch being recommended for all HP NetServer systems, APC is the worldwide recommended UPS vendor of choice. APC's UPS management software can easily be integrated with HP NetServer Assistant, HP OpenView and HP TopTools to ensure complete enterprise power management.

APC's Redundant Switch is available immediately in most countries worldwide. The list price of the 3 kVA Redundant Switch is $580.
