The subject was whether it was somehow inconsistent with his politics of Christopher to not drink because he, personally, didn't want to support the alcohol industry. IMO it wasn't. Of course we all support things we find morally offensive with our taxes; but this is a slightly different issue, and one only tangentially related to whether Christopher is being inconsistent to want to feel he has hands as clean as he can manage, even if he, like the rest of us, can't manage perfect cleanliness.
