Thanks to everyone for all the DSL v. Cable modem comments. DiViT, I guess the really high speed stuff is only necessary for streaming video, so the "low" speed DSL is fine for surfing and general web stuff. But I guess you have to pay for the ISP separately, so @Home has some benefit in supplying the ISP. Do the @Home users at your work say the speeds go below the slow DSL (256K) during the slowdowns? Considering that .com says he averages 1.5 Mbps, it seems like a slowdown would have to be really bad to get below the 256K, no?
