I'll throw in my two cents also. I was a programmer before deciding to do this from home. I told my manager at IBM that I wanted to work a partial day (evenings) while trading/investing during the day. He agreed and so from 1995 to 1997 I traded at home during the day and went in to work 4 hours/day evenings. Chucked it all summer of 1997 and have not regretted it since. As with KM, I also prefer to be on my own, although I suspect most here trade much more actively than I do. I'm more of a position trader, taking what I consider significant positions in a very few stocks, usually when I feel they have had the crap beat out of them. It's just my style and it has worked for me.
