While video over the internet is not that big a deal right now, as we move forward I believe we will see a huge rise in demand. The current infrastructure of the internet is not really ready to handle the bandwidth volume associated with broadcast quality video. For that matter, most PCs aren't ready to process true video either.

Once people see the possibilities associated with products like "video-on-demand" (like the qwest "motel" commercial that offers every movie ever made 24hrs a day), there will be cries for better technology and this SUN chip will be one of those able to fill this need. The ability to view "on demand" any movie or TV program, to be able to pause, rewind or fastforward at the control of the individual viewing such programs is a major event in the history of video and the processing power needed to provide this type of access requires newer, more innovative technology.

Just my opinion,
Michael
