Consensus eps for INTC for '97 is $8.50. That gives the stock a pe of around 16. No one looks at prior year's eps to compute pe's. FYI, the whisper eps is over $9.00.
INTC a good value now. I've bought into this world class business several times in past 3 years and have been very gratified.
To address issue of this thread, a great way to build wealth in this market is through a balanced portfolio of great tech stocks and great finance stocks. I've beat the S&P handily the last four years running using just this simple strategy. I've also held onto stocks. The few times I sold, I have regretted it, given the subsequent performance of the stocks I sold.
FYI, there are some screaming buys in financial stocks now. We're now seeing world class franchises selling at 11-13 time earnings. Great opportunity to buy and hold!
Greenspan pulled a major blunder. There was absolutely no reason for him to do what he did in raising rates. Totally uncalled for and he wiped out billions in wealth.
Overpriced stocks, my foot! Look at the Russell 2000! Look at the 52% of stocks which have dropped more than 15% over the last year when you take out the S&P stocks!
Oh well, I'll just watch this market careen down another 3-500 points, then I'll pick through the leavings and buy some more world class stocks at even greater bargain prices.
Thanks, Wall Street!
