Just to see what happens, I will post an apology to Joan for being so cavalier. I felt that I had done yeoman's service in interrupting the slamfest, discouraging the flirtfest, and managing to keep a discussion of the Civil War and libertarianism on a reasonable keel. Since Terrence and I could easily have been at one another's throats, I thought that playing the "top this game" was a good way to wind things down. Perhaps it went on too long, but then things were slow this morning. Anyway, I was still in a bantering mood when I made the "thread nanny" reference, and did not mean to be so offensive to her. Further, I will miss her, and my "toodles" was a mistake, tossed out because so much seems silly to me at the moment, what with my grandmother having just been laid to rest and all. It just seemed silly to walk off, and therefore I was terribly undiplomatic about it. Finally, if Joan does read this, I hope that if this is "the end", you will at least spare a fonder thought when retrieving your chardonnay from the Parkway...... |
