Mark, I agree with your findings regarding the competitor SDT.
Inspection of their website and product line reveals a few interesting points. Other than the multifunctional unit (which does everything but predict the weather), MRPS appears to satisfy with their ONE industrial unit all of the applications that SDT lists which require an entire segmented product line plus accessories to accomplish. Plus, MRPS uses internal software for enhancing accuracy. SDT mentions software only for data manipulation. It would be interesting to see how the two match up in actual use. (Or would that be one MRPS vs a handful of SDT units???) However, on SDT's News page, they list new Frequential Analysis Software, but not what it does. Also, they mention that the new software for the SDT 1000 will DOUBLE the price of the unit in the future. The letter to the president indicates that SDT products may be very expensive. One client mentioned seeing results using $28,000 worth of SDT equipment.
This may be just my bias; however, I feel that the SDT product line is expensive and confusing...which product do I really need for which job and with which accessories? The MRPS product appears much more application friendly, streamlined, inclusive and cost effective.
P.S. Did any one happen to notice that SDT is not above listing customers more than once? ie: Under "C": City of Los Angeles, Dept of Water & Power then under "D": Dept. Water, Los Angeles; and Siligan Containers was listed twice under "S". Their little "Client Banner" on the home page listed BACO Machinery twice among others....
There I feel better now.
