iasoft.com Joins Sequent's @Ready Program to Develop ASP Solutions for its Internet Applications

BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 1999--Sequent Computer Systems, Inc. and
iasoft.com today announced that iasoft.com has joined Sequent's @Ready(TM) Program to
develop Internet-hosted solutions for its Web-based products and services.
This will enable iasoft.com to develop a new software delivery channel based on the
application service provider (ASP) model to provide its applications to a broad range of
customers over the Internet.
Through the @Ready Program, iasoft.com and Sequent will optimize iasoft.com
applications, including ActiveForum(TM) and other Internet community offerings, for
Web-hosted delivery. The ASP model will allow iasoft.com to offer applications directly
to customers via the Internet with new options, including application 'rental' and
pay-per-use. As part of the @Ready Program, the applications will be rigorously tested
and proofed in the @Ready Lab before wide-scale deployment to live customers.
"The application service provider model levels the playing field, creating a whole new
opportunity for Web-based application deployment beyond legacy systems. Web-enabled
solutions have the advantage now," said Zor Gorelov, founder and CEO of iasoft.com. "We
teamed with Sequent to create an ASP channel leveraging its focus on the software vendor
through @Ready, Windows NT-friendliness and ASP expertise."
iasoft.com produces ActiveForum, a Web-based community application platform, which
includes threaded discussion forums and their extensions. Because ActiveForum has been
developed for the Web and is based on Windows NT, it provides ideal solutions for the
Web-hosted ASP model.
"iasoft.com is a leader in providing innovative Internet community products and
solutions. They have a real advantage entering the ASP space with Internet-ready
applications," said Jeff Pancottine, vice president of worldwide marketing for Sequent.
"The @Ready program allows iasoft.com to leverage that advantage and quickly develop a
high performance, highly available Web-hosted solution that will reach a whole new range
of customers while providing new options to the existing customer base."
