Another marketing campaign by the "global leader in rentable home entertainment"

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI - news), a global leader in rentable home entertainment, and American Airlines announced today a marketing agreement that will provide enhanced benefits for members of their customer loyalty programs -- American Airlines AADVANTAGE and Blockbuster Rewards(TM).

Blockbuster Rewards members will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of 35 flights for two on American Airlines with each rental or purchase at participating stores between now and Sept. 14*. As a bonus, customers who join Blockbuster Rewards during this time will earn 250 AADVANTAGE miles.

``Teaming up these two industry-leading companies will provide a significant value to members of both Blockbuster Rewards and AADVANTAGE,' said Jim Notarnicola, executive vice president, chief marketing officer for Blockbuster.

In addition, beginning in October, American will allow AADVANTAGE members to exchange frequent flyer miles for Blockbuster GiftCards(TM) or membership in Blockbuster Rewards.

``This is yet another way that the AADVANTAGE program is offering enhanced benefits to its members,' said Bruce Chemel, president of the AADVANTAGE Marketing Division. ``Our promotions with Blockbuster not only provide a new way for AADVANTAGE members to earn miles, but it offers unique new ways to use miles as well.'

The companies have teamed up in the past for a variety of promotions. Recently, American participated in the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards© as the official airline and sponsor.
