#99-22

Major General Resources Ltd. (the "Company") announces the appointment of
William J. Coulter as President effective August 18, 1999. Glenn
Shevchenko, the former President of the Company will continue to act as a
Director of the Company.

During Mr. Shevchenko's two and a half year tenure, the Company has been
involved in at least three key discoveries:
1. Through the creation of a joint venture with Monopros Limited, five
diamond bearing kimberlites were discovered on the Victoria Island
Property, Nunavut, in 1998. The 1999 program located two additional
kimberlites for which results are pending.

2. In 1999, a new gold discovery was made by joint venture partner Cameco
Gold Inc. on the Quebec based Despinassy Property. Drilling encountered an
ore-grade intercept grading 6.42 grams gold over 21.3 metres which is part
of an extensive a 3.7 kilometre long gold-bearing deformation zone.

3. In late 1998, the Company's exploration program on the Spider Lake
Project, Ontario, discovered the Starhill base metal zone that returned
values of up to 10.4% combined copper-lead-zinc, 101gpt silver and 0.87gpt
gold from grab samples. The zone measures up to 15 metres wide by 300
metres long and forms part of an Induced Polarization anomaly that has an
interpreted source measuring some 1,200 metres long by 100 metres wide.

The Board, on behalf of all shareholders, would like to thank Mr.
Shevchenko for his contributions as President.
