Arch to Offer Highly Customized Data Service for Pagers

Datalink.net to Provide Personalized Information Content

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Arch Communications Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: APGR - news) today announced an agreement with Datalink.net, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: NETD - news) under which Datalink.net will provide personalized information content to Arch's paging customers. The service will allow Arch subscribers to customize the information they receive on their pagers and to choose from a wide range of content.

Steven C. Gross, Arch executive vice president, sales and marketing, said, ''Our enhanced data service offers our customers a new level of flexibility: it is extremely customizable, offers more content options, and provides a World Wide Web interface where customers can pick and change their content selections right on the Arch Web site.''

Gross added: ''Advanced information delivery to the pager is a mark of what is to come for our customers. We expect to continue to add new products and services in the data delivery arena to further satisfy customers' desire for rapid access to personalized information.''

For the first time, Arch's wireless messaging customers will be able to receive specific information tailored to their personal preferences, such as local weather for their city, stock quotes for specific companies, sports scores for teams of their choosing -- including multiple score updates and breaking news such as injuries -- and other personalized information.

Arch will offer six different information categories, including News & Entertainment, Weather, Lifestyle, Financial, Sports, and Health News and Calendar Service, each with various subcategories. Information will be sent to customers' pagers at intervals of their choosing. Customers can sign up for the information service on Arch's Web site, selecting from a menu of content options.

Pamela LaPine, vice president, marketing of Datalink, commented: ''There is real synergy between information services providers and wireless messaging companies, resulting from consumers' increasing desire to have timely access to information no matter where they are. We expect this trend to continue and are pleased to offer Arch a customized information service that meets their customers' needs.''

Arch's customized data delivery service, to be offered beginning in the first quarter of 2000, will be added to Arch's existing portfolio of content services.
