Just curious about whether you were charged a transaction fee when your UNtendered FORE shares were converted to cash?

Why did you chose not to tender your shares?

I have a cash takeout in a little known stock called EMPI. The transaction fee isn't much depending upon the proceeds I'll be getting but still Schwab may charge me $39 for the transaction. Here was their wording when I questioned Schwab about the fee:

"Generally, a fee is charged if the merger or tender of shares is voluntary and if the tender is mandatory there are no fees."

I'm not sure how to interpret the above statement. Can anybody provide insight?
