I am aware that you just cut & pasted and have no objection to you doing so. I do believe that the article is sensationalistic and though there are certainly truths to the article, the conclusion certainly doesn't jibe with what I know.

Again, there is a group at Cisco that is dedicated to this issue and therefore it would be improper (and career limiting) for me to offer the clarifications other than to recommend that you go to the website and contact the appropriate people.

The demographics of the International Herald Tribune would have no bearing on the level of truth of their implications. I have seen many very respectable publications come up with some pretty outrageous scenarios (IMO) on the whole Y2K issue.

I would point out that if the IHT wanted to provide a balanced message, they would have at least asked for comments from Cisco.

I will of course bring the IHT article to the attention of the appropriate groups within Cisco.
