That, in WashDC, fondling visitors is considered job-related!
By GEORGE VECSEY of the NYT:
The most recent horror show was the final of the Women's World Cup on July 10, when thousands of fans missed the first half. (All right, so nobody scored, but that's hardly the point in soccer, is it?)
Soccer moms and soccer daughters who had paid hundreds of dollars for an S.U.V. full of tickets were stopped by the police on the narrow roads to the Rose Bowl. Reporters were blocked from the elevator bank by Secret Service agents.
You learn very quickly not to argue with these blokes, who are usually in a bad mood because the President is ignoring their security and logistical advice. Who do they take it out on? You. Me. Us.
It would make more sense for the President to arrive early and let traffic flow, but that's not how it works. At the Rose Bowl, we heard President Clinton was running late because he was playing golf, to which we said, "Oh, well, as long as it's job related."
