I agree with your statements. I reckon CSCC shareholders are getting shafted again. I'm bleeding over this deal. ASND merger for .7 a share is not overly generous. The ASND PE is still to high and will come down eventually. I've seen a merger like this before when a company like Fore with a simalar whacky PE makes a take over bid
for another company like Alantec at $40 now trading at $15.
The CEO for CASCADE also lacks credibility. On momemt he says earnings are looking fine for this quarter and then unexpectly we have a another bad earnings announcement forecast. The insiders have been selling down and the tape never lies $91-$25. Cisco was courting Cascade long before they bought Stratacom. Cisco would have merged with CSCC for $110 and even today they still own a chuck of CSCC.

Mutual Funds are going to dump or reduce there their holdings as they did today when they probably own positions in both companies. They are not crazy enough to have twice as much stock in one company after the merger.
