I thought maybe I was the only one who had that feeling... However, I keep hearing you saying the same things... like lying on your back on the grass looking out at the sky and thinking about being on this big spinning thing that we call "earth"....

Another great experience is paddling down a narrow tree-lined river in the late autumn. This would be an absolutely still day when the river is like a great sheet of dark glass. You tilt your canoe over so that you can both look down "into" the water at the eerie quatic twilight world beneath you, but simultaneously see the reflection of the blue sky and white clouds drifting by on the surface. You are moving smoothly in this space between sky and river bottom...like flying on water... Your paddle neatly cuts through the freezing water and as you raise it for each stroke, there is one amazing moment when beads of water fall away from it and bounce and spin out across the near freezing surface like so many spilled droplets of mercury flying off into infinity....

....something tells me that you might like that...
