IMO, it is OK for AMD to do it. I believe it can be
called optimization just like Intel has its own
compiler for SSE. So long the other parameters are
kept the same(like disk subsystem, RAM used etc.).

BTW, The spec result is pretty impressive. It seems that
they really just took those programs used by Intel and
run it unmodified on Athlon.
