Yesterday's analyst cuts seem to defy all logic...flat revenues are not going to happen due to that active-trader (75+ trades per quarter) discount offer. What fraction of the revenue comes from that sub-population? How many more trades are going to happen due to the Instinet agrrement? Last month, we had downgrades due to the reduced overall market volume in June-July. This clearly runs contrary to TD WAterhouse's earnings release. It seems to me that individuals are taking control of their investments in larger numbers (not that it's necessarily a good thing)--drop off in overall market volume in June-july can probably nbe attributed solely to institutions.
