Iris,
If I could help you I would. I would guess at this point Maxtor or HDD have the best moves ahead of them, but I wouldn't have chosen WDC as being the best mover of the past week but so it is. Rumor on the WDC thread has them as possibly being taken over by IBM. Makes some sense to me, though the poster discounted it even as he was reporting it. This would be a good thing for the sector, I think, even if it signals IBM's newfound (relatively speaking) aggressiveness. If Maxtor then gets taken over by Seagate, it will be even better. Meanwhile, HDD has a conference scheduled for 20 minutes or so from now that was called suddenly and who knows what they will announce.

Historically, buying DDs in August has been a great move. It didn't matter which one you bought, they all did well by January or February. Whether this year will be a repeat of that, we'll have to see. But first we'll have to see what QNTM has to say in a few minutes.

Good luck,
Sam
