China has prepared and is ready to deliver F-7 PRC planes equipped with the most modern and highly sensitive devices to Pakistan, the Pakistani newspaper Jang reported on August 17. China agreed to prepare these planes for Pakistan on an emergency basis in light of Pakistan?s immediate needs. This is the first time the planes, which can travel twice the speed of sound, will be used in a country other than China.

The Press Trust of India revealed August 18 that India is close to building an electron accelerator capable of emitting microwaves packed with "gigawatts of power," that will "cook" missile and aircraft computer guidance systems. P.H. Ron, head of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center in Bombay?s accelerator and pulse power division, said the KALI-5000 will be ready for testing at the end of this year.

1715 GMT, 990818 Pakistan ? Prominent Pakistani nuclear scientist N.M. Butt revealed August 18 that Pakistan has the capability to build a neutron bomb. "The country by the grace of God has such well-trained, specialized and capable nuclear scientists who can design and build a nuclear weapon of any size including a neutron bomb," he said. All the materials necessary for construction can also be found in Pakistan. The announcement came following the disclosure that India has similar capabilities.

0100 GMT, 990818 Bangladesh/India ? Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Shafi Sami said on August 17 that Bangladesh does not protect terrorists or provide training to any insurgent groups in India.
