The point is that Intel took a long time to own up according to you...WCOM apparently suffered the same misjudgement in your view as well.

Who cares. Both companies are stellar outfits that have slipped up from time to time but have rebounded quite nicely BECAUSE they partially control future technologies that the world MUST have. Yes WCOM has a different competitive environment than Intel, but they do have the best internet communication network system in the world. Customers understand that.

What did you want WCOM to do, give a year's free service to those who were lost for a week? Customers who let their emotions control their judgements will fail anyway. If they want to get back at WCOM and drop them, fine...but I have a feeling world class companies are more concerned with the bottom line than the emotional outbursts exhibited by the Chicago Board of Exchange weenie.
