Oh, OK. I have no idea, myself. The article I read said that up until 5 years ago Canadians used to go to US border towns to buy U.S. goods, and don't anymore, but maybe there's more to it, like tariffs, sales taxes or something. I feel like I should just keep my mouth shut, apparently the tax you pay in Canada when you buy stuff isn't a sales tax, it's a GST, which is somehow different than a sales tax, even though it's on sales. I believe I will bow out of having any opinion on Canada, which, in fact, I no longer am willing to consider retiring to, as it appears to be yet another place in the world where Americans are disliked. |
