People should fend for themselves and not look for a government to sort out their troubles, support them, manage their lives for them, think for them or provide for them from cradle to grave.

I am not confused, although I grant you there is much confusion on this thread. What you call an arbitrary and cruel system was a free, non-coercive system.

If I did what I really want to do which is not allow any of the money I create to be used for any program I am opposed to, including social security, what do you think the government will do to me?

If your answer is anything other than "nothing" then you admit we no longer live in a free society; If you answer "nothing," we both know that is an untruth.
