Stuart, a couple of observations.
First, it was hard for me to pin down the Bell Atlantic DSL people as to the degree of degradation depending upon the number of users on line. They were a bit evasive about that, and that is why they say their speeds are "up to" 1.6 megabytes/sec. I was trying to get a feel as to whether DSL degrades more or less than cable modem under taxing circumstances. I still do not have the answer to that.
Second, Bell Atlantic tells me they will have to go to my phone juncture box and, in effect, split my line by bringing in another line, although it is actually servicing the same number. I'll let you know about that once my installation has been completed next week.
Third, Stuart, are you aware that Bell Atlantic charges different rates for Level 1, 2 and 3 service depending upon whether you are a residential or business customer. I have posted the residential rates. The commercial rates are more expensive. Apparently you can take advantage of the residential rates if you are in a residential building.
Fourth, if Bell Atlantic offers AOL for free, as they told me they will, may I suggest that you avail yourself of that opportunity.
