Most readers of this board will also recognize guest speaker, Donald McDonnell, former LGND employee and inventor of key patent on the progesterone receptor 164.195.100.11 The patent is assigned to LGND and forms the bases for some of the more recent studies which will probably be discussed on the show. McDonnell was also an inventor on an earlier patent done in collaboration with Bert O'Malley, another LGND consultant and another leader in the field of steroid hormone receptors. Not sure how many NPR listeners will catch the connections, but readers of this board should know that most of the information being discussed tomorrow focuses on transcription control via intracellular recepters, a field led by Ligand's scientist and consultants.
