It appears that on 8/18/99 Lifeway filed a lawsuit against a company called Fresh Made Inc. for a trademark violation.

I believe from discussions a couple of years ago that Fresh Made is a small company that makes kefir in New York.

If my memory also serves me right, N.Y. is one of the states that is tough on making false statements. Specifically in this case, if Fresh Made is marketing saying that their kefir is real kefir and it is not, then that would be illegal in N.Y.

I do remember that Lifeway was approved to call their kefir real in the state of N.Y. If someone would like to call the company and get the specifics and share them with the rest of us that would be swell.

Personally I'm not concerned with it. If Lifeway was the defendant instead of the plaintiff it would be a different story.

Lifeway is in the process of creating brand name recognition here in the U.S. and they probably won't tolerate anyone trying to ride on their coat tails for free.

Maybe this is the reason for Lifeway's stock slide recently. Or maybe because some are impatient. I'm at plus 3 years now. I'm a patient person.
