marc, good morning, I'm no pipeline hand, but I think a rotating-type compressor is either a Roots-type blower, with two meshing gear-like screws which compress the gas - like a supercharger - or alternatively, a turbine-type compressor. These can be high pressure / high volume. The reciprocating type is basically like your truck engine, with pistons performing the compression via a positive displacement cycle. Regards to all, Aggie
