Looking backwards, Voice equipment manufacturers tended to be distinct from the data equipment guys. Looking forward, there is no difference.
I'd expect NN to compete head to head with NT, LU, CSCO, ... across their full product range fairly soon. i.e. - less than about 3-4 years out.
There's just too much money in NN's space. The majors will fight tooth and nail to attempt to get the lion's share. While TM has the lead, and can be expected to hold it for a few years, I don't believe that it will last forever. Ultimately, I'd expect NN to be purchased if the products are as good as we think they are; or wither away as the LU, NT, etc., gang start to take share.
