The National Post's Briefing column reports that most of the money went for research and development on environmentally friendly products and production methods. The move comes as DaimlerChrysler, and larger rivals General Motors and Ford Motor, put more emphasis on low emission vehicles and related technology to meet stricter United States pollution standards.
