truedog, re:who's going to pay...

Hi Truedog,

It is hypocritical because he is publicly taking one position, but hiding a conflicting position with his public stance.

Drug use is a difficult and misunderstood social problem. Bush's actions remind all of us how profoundly either ignorant or inhumane politicians are in regards to drug use. I believe I heard the Mayor of New York Guiallani (sp?) quoted as saying he does not understand why drug users cannot just say NO.... for a Mayor of a city where drug abuse is such a problem to make such a statement is so, so, pitifully ignorant and irresponsible.

His statements perpetuate the myth that somehow quitting drugs is like going on a diet. And it reinforces this idea that we are fighting a war on drugs. A war? Any U.S. General would have changed strategies 30 years ago.

If it is a war, it may well be the greatest US human catastrophe ever in terms of lives lost, dollars lost and those injured because of the utter failure of the past 35 years.

And, the incredible irony of it all is we are the enemy.

Just my opinion.

Jon :)
