A very wise move on the part of management to ask for a halt in trading. The media in this country is so irresponsible it makes me sick. The sort of rumour-mongering and speculative touting that goes on in the media in this country is unheard of in any other country. You wouldn't see that sort of journalism in the financial press in the U.S. for example. Even the self-proclaimed national newspaper gets in on the act. The financial press in Canada reminds me of a tout sheet or newsletter at times.

Pertaining to Eaton's, I visited an Eaton's store yesterday to see how things were and found the store to be in the best shape I've seen in years. The prices were better than at Sears or the Bay for most items (ie. Haggar and Dockers' pants) and the store was running clearance sales on many items. With 40% - 50% reductions on many goods, it will definitely boost sales and hurt the competition (re: Sears, Bay). The store seemed much better organized and the layout was tidy for the first time in years. Too little, too late? Most likely.
